Horrific Multi-Truck Accident in Chester County Leave Local Families Grieving
A devastating accident on I-77 has changes the lives of local families forever. The circumstances are still being investigated, but our hearts are heavy to learn that two people have died and 10 people have been seriously injured, including a 3-year-old toddler whose seat was ejected from the vehicle, as a result of the crash.
Channel 9 reports at least 6 vehicles were involved in the accident – three of them tractor-trailers that erupted into flames, leading to a brush and tree fire along the side of the interstate. Channel 9’s description of the scene is almost surreal: “The big rigs were burned almost beyond recognition while the passenger vehicles that littered the scene were ripped apart and crunched into metal scrap.” The Chester County coroner described it as the worst crash he’s ever seen, telling The Herald it looked like a war zone.
We cannot begin to imagine the pain and suffering these families are going through, but we can express our gratitude to the emergency services, medical personnel, fire fighters and law enforcement officials who jumped into action so quickly to save as many people as they could. York County fire departments and Piedmont EMS also came to the scene to help.
Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims. We hope that they can find some peace in the days to come.
